FOBYHUB:the floating optical buoy measurement system for apparent optical properties of water
FOBYHUB is a portable, intelligent, floating optical buoy measurement system for apparent optical properties of water, based on a skylight blocked approach. It can be used in the fields of validation and on-site calibration of ocean color satellites, research on apparent optical properties of water, bio-optical algorithms, research and forecast of red tides and algal blooms, and monitoring and prediction of water quality.
Features:
FOBYHUB directly measures water-leaving radiance and downwelling incident irradiance above water at the same time.
FOBYHUB can avoid the derivation error and human operation error that happened in above-water measurements and underwater measurements.
FOBYHUB is an open system. For AOP measurements, Customers can choose radiometers from different manufacturers, such as RAMSES of TriOS in Germany or Easy-HR of EasyOceanTech in Canada. FOBYHUB-M can integrate the SBE 37SI CTD and ECO FL sensor of the Seabird company.
The maximum spectral sampling frequency of FOBYHUB is 4 Hz If you choose Easy-HR radiometers, They can collect hundreds of sets of spectrum data in a minute sampling time.
All models of the FOBYHUB have an ESpool, the intelligent tether cable spool, with a rechargeable Li-ion battery, GPS module, and WiFi module inside. The desk unit can communicate with ESpool through WiFi or CAT5 cable. ESpool can communicate with on-water equipment through a tether cable. The rechargeable battery built inside of ESpool supplies power to on-water equipment.
The above-water part of FOBYHUB weighs less than 15kg. An operator can assemble the system on deck in less than 5 minutes by himself. FOBYHUB does not require extra cable to deploy, and one person can deploy the system on the water surface with an ESpool cable.
